Making Progress Towards a Parish Plan for Meopham
The purpose of a Parish Plan is to provide the local residents with the opportunity to give their views in the planning of the future of their Community. Meopham Parish Council therefore wished to explore what local residents would want over the next five to ten years from future planning. The need for a Parish Plan emerged and in September 2007 after the Parish Design Statement was completed in December 2006.

The process began with a questionnaire circulated to all households, which was completed by over 500 householders in the Parish by December 2007. The findings can be downloaded in the detailed analysis provided below.

A Steering Group was set up in January 2008 to consider the evidence and interpret these findings. The topics that were raised in the Survey were:

1. HIGHWAYS ETC; 2. LAW AND ORDER; 3. ENVIRONMENT; 4. AMENITIES; 5. QUALITY OF SERVICES; 6. EMPLOYMENT; 7. EDUCATION, CHILD CARE AND YOUTH FACILITIES.

The Group members are: Cllr Bill Fisher (Chair), Mr Brian Boughton, Mrs Dawn Bramer, Mrs Ceri Courtney, Mr Michael Gillott, Cllr Mrs Mandy Green, Mr David Grey, Mrs Sheila Howe, Cllr Doug Powell, Ms Paula Robinson, Mr Simon Westmacott and Mr Michael Windsor

The Steering Group have met three times and would like to hear more from parishioners and if you have opinions that you would like to share, on a range of further questions with the evidence gathered so far, they would welcome you views, then click on: the kink to Bulletin 2 (April 2008) below or email Sarah Lawry-Johns (mpcdepclerk@btconnect.com).

The Steering Group will be meeting again before the Annual Parish Meeting on 20 May 2008. At this time an interim report is being prepared but no conclusions have been reached yet until they can carry out more consultation and obtain more evidence. Your comments will be taken into account if you respond soon. The full report, with recommendations is expected to be completed by the Autumn 2008.
