The phone kiosk on Meopham Green was demolished by a car crashing into it back in February of this year. BT have decided not to reinstate the phone kiosk and have told the Parish Council that a notice was put up at the site informing the public of a 90 day consultation period but the council were not aware of this. Some residents have expressed their concern at losing this facility primarily due to the fact that the mobile signal in the area is weak and this phone kiosk is used by walkers.
KCC are currently looking at a new project which includes part of the Meopham area. They are currently developing the Heritage Lottery funded Old Chalk New Downs Project - see attached flyer for more information. They currently really need local knowledge, thoughts and aspirations to help shape the project and deliver things that are meaningful and will genuinely benefit Meopham Parish residents and visitors. As part of the project, there is a public questionnaire, link here :- www.surveymonkey.com/r/oldchalknewdowns.
Council tax scam
Kent County Council Trading Standards is warning the public of fraudsters who are telephoning to tell them they are in the wrong council tax bracket and are owed a rebate of around £6,000.
Scammers will ask for an up-front fee of around £65 in order to process the payment, but no rebate will be issued.
